Biography
Lucy Stephenson has studied portrait art since 1961, when she completed a required 1st grade self-portrait. Since then, she has spent many hours studying the art of the classics: Rembrandt, Paxton, Sargent and Bouguereau. In her thirties, she entertained mothers at parks and roller skating rinks by creating pencil drawings of their children. Later, in conjunction with her stained glass business, she experimented with portrait painting on glass. Always wanting to broaden her experience, she worked in acrylics and has recently expanded her medium to oils. In July 2007, she studied under internationally renowned portrait artist, Marvin Mattelson and continues to hone her skill. She lives in Kingston, TN with her supportive husband and two sons.
